HMS Life
Harrowing, uplifting, challenging, inspirational; HMS Life is the story of a miracle – a miracle of how to get from nowhere to somewhere.

The Royal Navy of the early 1970’s was no place for a boy. Just 15 & 16, the authors’ plunged headlong into a man’s world. They were boys at risk, sometimes abused, sometimes abuser, unprepared for war, survival, drunkenness and Red Light districts; and still not shaving!
There was no-one to help; it was every boy for himself. Survival had to be worked at, an image created, identities developed. The lines blurred so much and so often that neither man knew who he really was when he finally landed in Civvy Street.
Despite the confusion and battles within, both men would go on to find incredible transformation and a deep sense of purpose for their lives. Both “found God”, became Christians, went to Bible College and became ordained ministers.
And still they wouldn’t meet till their early thirties!
When they finally did, they became firm friends quickly. HMS Life is their unique story. With brutal honesty, they explain what it was like arriving in the pulpit while still carrying the baggage of their past.
HMS Life is the story of parallel lives, an inspirational journey of two “losers” who grow into strong Christian leaders and influencers.
It’s living proof that your past doesn’t have to determine your future.
